The Clay Lady

Posted By on December 16, 2009

While Quinn and I were in Texas my Mom was able to come up and spend some time with the boys. She was a Godsend. She was able to take the boys to their play rehearsal on Saturday. Since it was a dress rehearsal, they couldn’t miss. First though, she had to have some fun with the boys. I had a field trip scheduled on the afternoon of the day she arrived. Might as well hit the ground running eh?

We had the Clay Lady / Christmas Party for the H.O.M.E. group. If you have never heard of the Clay lady you have to check out her website. She is amazing how she captivates the kids. Our group is fairly large so we were split up into two groups. The younger group had 130 kids so she had a mic on.

They did Pineapple bowls this year. We have done the Clay Lady projects for almost 5 years straight with several events per year. I have at least 10 projects of the boys and none of them are the same….amazing.

I did not get a picture of Jacob’s final piece. Crafts stress me out in the first place and having to work with glazing paint along side 130 other kids is a little more than I can bear sometimes. Sometimes you just have to walk away and breathe.

I did manage to get a final picture on Samuel’s piece. She will take all of the works of art back to her studio and fire them and return them for our next event. I think Grammy had a great time too.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

You two are wimps! I had a ball! The Clay Lady is incredible though, I would NEVER undertake 130 kids at a time with a craft! My max is 20! She is so calm too! Merry Christmas all.

Clay Lady is great! However, you don’t walk away – you run when doing crafts with 130 kids! At least I do! I don’t know how the Clay Lady does it! Great pictures BTW.
