Snow Day!

Posted By on January 9, 2010

It is a snowy day here and while snow isn’t a rare occurrence, snow that lasts 3 days is! It started snowing around 7:30 am on Thursday. We have less than an inch on the ground but it is still snowing after three days. My dogs that were scheduled for grooming canceled so I got the day off. HA! Quinn had other plans for the family today…Cleaning.

Samuel vacuumed the hard surfaces and I vacuumed the carpets. Dad cleaned the trash can and took out all the trash. He also put Jacob to work stacking fire wood.

Quinn would bring carts full of wood up to the porch and Jacob was stacking it.

After that we all had some lunch and then I made some Banana muffins. I also got some time to make a batch of soap. Blackberry Cobbler soap complete with oats inside. Smells like a bakery in here, between the muffins and the soap.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

Hey girl! It is a winter wonderland here!! We have over 2ft in the backyard and on the porch. It started snowing 8 days ago and to my knowledge we have only had a couple hours break this afternoon and a few hours break on Thursday morning. It has also been bitter cold – last night it was 10 degrees when we were coming home. Sounds like you enjoyed your day off.
