Productive Sunday

Posted By on August 23, 2009

After church today it was still pretty cool out. It was in the high 50′s overnight. Yea, fall is coming! Quinn and the boys decided to walk to the creek and try to catch some crayfish or something. I decided to do some much needed weeding in the front flowerbed.

This picture is after I had been at it for an hour. The weeds were taller than the plants that were actually supposed to be there.

When all was said and done I had three wheelbarrows full of weeds. As I was weeding I was thinking about how our lives are like flower beds. We are so beautiful when we are tended and pruned and weeded and when we are not we are just filled with junk and weeds. God talks to me the most when I am in the garden. It is hard work to keep the weeds out but God is patient and just waits for the weeding to begin. As humans we are so full of weeds and junk, and we try so hard to be the beautiful flower bed. I am grateful that God gives me a big helping of Grace every morning and starts weeding. Weeding is hard work and sometimes painful but God is at work to make a beautiful flower bed.

I pray that everyone knows God’s loving touch in the garden of their lives but if you don’t…ask Him in. He can’t wait to wrap you up in his loving arms and say “welcome home”. It is not always easy but God can help lighten the load.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

Loved the thoughts and know that many times I need those ‘weedings’. Could mine come from ‘weeding’ out my guest room? As I sort and organize, I too, think how He needs to organize my life! Love you! Have a great day in the Lord!
