Baby food for puppies

Posted By on March 24, 2011

This is not the first meal for the puppies because I did not realize how cute they would be and didn’t bring the camera. Their first meal they went swimming in it.

Yummy!

They slurped and slurped.

Hey! Move over.

These girls are so delicious! Don’t you just want to eat them up?!

Cutier by the second

The puppies just started week 3 of life on Heaven Scent Farms. Their eyes are now open and they are starting to move about.

Life is good

Sound asleep

I haven’t taken too many pictures of these babies because I have been cuddling and snuggling them when I get the chance and don’t want to waste time taking pictures. I have a feeling that all that is about to change.

The puppies are now mobile. When I visited the barn today two of them were nursing and one was sleeping in the corner. After one of them finished her lunch she went to wake the other one up. Once she was awake she was on the move to find lunch.

How cute are they!

I will try to be better at updating pictures of these precious girls.

I have been hacked

Posted By on March 14, 2011

Wow! What an exciting weekend. My site was hacked into, then it went down, then I was locked out. I am not sure what it all means. Maybe it means I have arrived?!

Probably not, maybe I didn’t have the precautions in place because…I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING! For those of you who know me it is of no surprise. I fly by the seat of my pants most of the time and only know enough to be dangerous. Hopefully I will be able to hire someone to help me with what I don’t know….HAHAHAHA. That is if I can get them to stop running and screaming from me because what I don’t know is a lot.

We had to change the look of the site for awhile but hopefully soon I will have it back or maybe a brand new look. Time will tell.

Y’all come back now!

Sugar and Spice and everything nice.

Sophie’s puppies were a week old on Sunday. We had two tragedies the day before. Sophie is kind of old to be a first time mom and while she is doing great, she was laying on top of the puppies. My friend Karen told me to put her in the milking room of the barn where there is a concrete floor. We put down a large piece of carpet so that Sophie would know she was laying on the babies and not a bunch of hay. It has worked like a charm. The babies (the 3 little pigs as I call them) are growing so fast. We saw the largest one try to walk on all fours. Up until today they have been carpet surfing.

I wanted to get a few more pictures of them before they open their eyes. That could be anytime now.

Complete cuteness!

That picture looks like a polar bear cub! The boys have been talking about names- a lot!
I think we decided that if we keep one of the ones that don’t have many markings we would name her “Fleur” We will just have to see.

I got a request from our NJ cousins for a puppy. I thought to myself…these are working dogs. Then I realized it might be perfect because there are 5 kids in that family. That dog would be working, for sure. Not sure Uncle John or Aunt Kris would approve though. We’ll talk.

We have babies!

Posted By on March 2, 2011

Sophie had her puppies early Sunday morning and didn’t deliver her last pup until 3pm Sunday afternoon. It was a long day for her.

Brand new babies

These pictures are when they are a few hours old.

trying to find someting to eat

Sophie delivered 12 puppies in all. We have 5 beautiful girls who survived. This was Sophie’s first time to be a Mom. She took care of all the puppies but quite a few of them were still-born.

Boys were surprised to see babies.

Things have been crazy here this last week so I have not spent a ton of time with the babies but I hope that will be changing soon.

Yea! Puppies

Baby Watch

Posted By on February 25, 2011

I am official on baby watch. Sophie is due to have her puppies today. I figured that she would have them last night due to the weather systems and storms that were going on last night.

Sophie

I went out to the barn after the major system came through to check on her and….nothin’. I went out there this morning hoping to see something different and….nothin’. Since I don’t have much going on today she will wait to have them tomorrow when I am too busy to check on her.

I will keep you posted.

Up and running

Posted By on February 11, 2011

Some of you might have noticed that my site was down for a while. All that could be seen was a white screen. Coincidentally, we actually had a local white out too. Since my last post, we got 3 inches of snow with the first system and an additional 2 inches from the last. It is a beautiful winter wonderland around here but temperatures are supposed to rise into the fifties starting on Sunday.

Back to my site being down… apparently it was an error in the “theme” of the site. The theme is just the layout and some of the graphics. I knew this was nothing I could handle on my own so I was able to contact a friend and she has graciously agreed to help me and is going to help to see that it doesn’t happen in the future. Everyone needs friends like that, for sure. Thank you so much Miss Linda.

Snow-rain?

Posted By on February 7, 2011

Well, a few flurries were predicted for tonight after 6pm. No one thought much about it then because it was close to 50 degrees yesterday. Well, I looked out the window at 11:30am and it was snow-raining. It was very strange. It was clearly raining because there was water pouring out of the downspout and ponding on the grass but it also looked like it was snowing huge fat flakes of snow!

Snow-rain?!

Snow-rain?!

Forty minutes later…this is what it looked like.

surprise!

surprise!

This is what it looks like still. How lucky am I?! I know the groundhog Phil did not see his shadow and thus proclaiming that spring is right around the corner. Really!? I guess it is around the next corner…or we should not rely on giant rodents to predict the weather.

A job well done

Both of my boys are in 4-H this year. They are so excited that they get to go to camp together that they can barely stand it. The project that was due this month was Posters. It has to say something about 4-H.

Samuel's poster

Samuel fell in love with archery at camp so he wanted to do his poster on that. He got a blue ribbon for his hard work.

Jacob's poster

Jacob's poster

Jacob decided to highlight the “Chick Chain” on his poster. Samuel participated the last two years and is happy to pass that on to his brother. Jacob is very excited to have his own chickens in the spring. He also received a blue ribbon for his hard work. Both posters will go on to the county competition. Cross your fingers!

Winter Wonderland

Posted By on January 26, 2011

Well the system has arrived! We woke up to a winter wonderland. We have almost 4 inches of snow and it is still coming down.

Beautiful

Beautiful

It started snowing last night around 11 pm. Quinn and I were looking at it come down right before going to bed and I made the mistake of doing a little happy snow dance. He was not happy and asked the question, “Haven’t you had enough of this?!” Now I don’t have to get up in the morning and drive to work and I am from Pennsylvania where we have snow like this all the time. He is from Texas where it snows about every 10 yrs. He is tired of the snow. I think the boys and I will make a snow man.

Yipee!
