New Kids on the Block

Posted By on March 23, 2010

It has been a while since I have posted. You might think that I have been playing with baby goats and completely forgotten about all of you….
You would be half right. I am still trying to balance house and barn. For those of you who might not know I home school our two boys. I also work from home grooming dogs. I have been a little overwhelmed by all of it lately but I think I had this same problem last year at this time. Too much to do in the spring.

Enough of my whining. Check out the new kids!

Little girl

Little girl

This is the little girl. She is half Saanen ( pronounced Sah-nen) and half Boer (pronounced Boar). I am calling her Abigail in my head. I am hoping to trade grooming services to keep her but we will see.

Little boy

Little boy

This is the little boy. He is not as lively as the little girl. He will play with her though. They are very cute when they jump up and down off of the tree stumps.

Momma

Momma

This beautiful Mom is named Y U Love. I call her Y. The boys call her Love. She is starting to come around. She is still pretty freaked out that she is here. She is taking cookies out of my hand and she will let me hold a baby now and then. We are getting in the swing of milking. Fortunately she is a first freshener so she doesn’t know how bad I am at milking.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.
