Lumberjack

Posted By on July 9, 2009

I took Samuel to the dentist today to get the spacers put in after the dental surgery 3 weeks ago. They all said how brave he was. Now we have yet another challenge with eating. Again. I think we are going to have to blend things for awhile.

Mower or tractor?

Mower or tractor?

When we arrived home I saw Quinn out on the riding mower. I was a little confused as to why he was in the woods with it until I saw what was trailing behind him. A log! He was out their being a lumberjack. That is a good thing because since we had the loggers out, they left all the tops of the trees for firewood. He was cutting sections and then dragging them up with the riding mower. Genius!

By the looks of it I’d say he has been at it awhile. He is getting a jump on the winter firewood. He says they split nicely too.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

It’s been more than 16 years since I’ve been on a tractor- the smell of cut wood is priceless.
