Buffalo Bill? or Quinn?

Buffalo Bill? or Quinn?

After church on Sunday we had friends from church come out for lunch. Mr. and Mrs. C are interested in moving to the country so we invited them out to the farm.

We have also been approached by some others, at times, asking if they could come out and shoot on our property. Knowing that Mr. C is a gun enthusiast we struck up a conversation about the subject with him. Now, I am not opposed to firearms, I just don’t know much about them. Mr. C. was happy to impart his knowledge and my boys were very happy to receive. The little boys are interested in all things ‘weapon’ so I needed to know about such matters in a responsible manner.

He gave my boys a gun safety course that was very thorough. I think it will cut down on the “imaginary gun” play at my house. It was a very serious instruction. Then we were allowed to do a little target practice. I was first joy. Like I said, I am not opposed to guns, I wouldn’t mind having one on the property, but it was not my favorite thing. I was glad for the opportunity to learn, though.

Quinn was very good at target practice. As you can see from the photo of the targets that he almost had a bullseye. Might be nice for him to have a shotgun for when the coyotes come to visit.

Samuel and Jacob also got to fire the revolver. They thought it was a lot of fun but I think they were surprised by the sound and power. They both did very well with the targets as well.

After all the kids had an opportunity everyone except Mr. C and Quinn went in for dessert and a hot tub. Quinn stayed behind to shoot the shotguns at targets. I think he had the most fun of anybody and learned a bunch. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. C for sharing your knowledge with us!

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.
