Funny thing happened on the way from the barn.

Yesterday we were wrapping things up with morning barn chores when we noticed the dogs were going crazy at the fence line. There is a plastic dog house there that was blown there and it hasn’t been moved. I couldn’t see what they were freaking out about. I told the boys that it was probably a bunny or a cat or maybe a mole and sent Samuel over to check it out. He yelled, “It’s a pig”! You could have knocked me over with a feather. I didn’t think I heard him right but he repeated it. Now I had to go check out this kitten that looked like a pig. When I got over there, sure enough, it was a little pot bellied pig! She has a harness on and everything.

Yesterday I was sure that some family had lost their pet but as the day wore on and the calls turned up nothing I am sure that someone has dumped this poor little creature. So today’s adventures are to find her a home. As cute as she is she cannot live here. The guard dogs smell bacon!

She is very calm and likes to be scratched but screams bloody murder if you try to pick her up. She is also surprisingly neat for a pig. I am keeping her in a room at the barn and she only uses one spot to use the bathroom so she is probably litter trained. Let me know if you are interested.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

I told Porkalicious that she was gonna get a new baby sister. She was suitably unimpressed. We shall see tomorrow how the prima donna does when it comes time to share affection and food.
