Christmas ’09

Posted By on January 1, 2010

I have been lacking in the time and motivation department for posting lately. I apologize and will try to be more on track in the new year. We spent Christmas in Florida with my parents. It was less rushed and more relaxed this year. We spent time together and celebrated the birth of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ.

At my parents church the early Christmas Eve service is a children’s play. This year they did “Camel Lot”. Very cute and very organized. Samuel even realized how much work the kids put in. Then it was back for supper and P.J’s. My Mom buys the P.J.’s for Christmas Eve so that everyone matches.

The boys shirts were very cute. ” Dear Santa, I was framed”. Last year we got shirts that said “Dear Santa, it wasn’t me”. I don’t know what she will come up with next year but guaranteed it will be cute.

The boys slept as well as can be expected. They didn’t wake Quinn and I until 6:30. Pretty good..considering. After the flurry of gifts we settled down for a traditional Christmas breakfast..Stollen.

Stollen is a tradition that has been in my father’s family for generations. It is a delicious tradition. It is a sweet bread with candied fruit and nuts inside. The mincemeat pie is for later…yum.

There was a fantastic rain storm early Christmas morning and after we were all dressed we were able to see a beautiful rainbow over the ocean. I wasn’t sure it would translate to film… it is almost as beautiful but not quite as brilliant.

Before dinner Quinn and I took the boys to the beach for a little bit. This was the first year they actually enjoyed the surf. Last year they enjoyed the sand, this year they enjoyed the waves.

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

  3. Hi. I just noticed that your site looks like it has a few code errors at the very top of your website’s page. I’m not sure if everybody is getting this same bugginess when browsing your blog? I am employing a totally different browser than most people, referred to as Opera, so that is what might be causing it? I just wanted to make sure you know. Thanks for posting some great postings and I’ll try to return back with a completely different browser to check things out!
