Brooding Pen

| January 26, 2010

Joe and Mike were at the farm Saturday fixing my brooding pen. With eggs in the incubator I needed to get moving on the pen in the barn so we didn’t have them in the garage. This is so cool because it is adaptable. There is a panel on the side closest to the big [...]

Turkeys

| January 22, 2010

When we moved here a year ago we would have a visit from a flock of wild turkeys almost once a week. We noticed a few months ago that we had not seen the turkeys and wondered if it was due to Bullet. I am happy to report that the turkeys came visiting yesterday! The [...]

Ready to hatch some peeps

| January 16, 2010

The boys and I fired up the incubator yesterday. We loaded it up with 41 eggs. I have never hatched chicks before so I don’t really know what I am doing…shocking I know. They are tucked in and will hatch in about 3 weeks barring a power outage. Y’all come back now!

Barn is complete!

| January 7, 2010

This is actually really late in being posted. The barn was finished last year..hehehe. The last day of the year that is. It is so beautiful and my neighbors Joe and Mike did a fantastic job of listening to what I wanted and designing it for me. There are a few final touches I need [...]

Anticipation

| December 3, 2009

My church has a free before and after school program for the middle schoolers in the community. It is called A.C.T.I.O.N. or All Children Together In Our Neighborhood. It is a fantastic program for working families. It gives middle school kids a safe place to go before mom and dad get off work. There are [...]

Roosters

| September 18, 2009

I was able to take the camera out to the coop by myself for a change. I was able to sneak out while the boys were playing their new Indiana Jones Lego for the Wii. I have a Light Brahma Rooster who I think is so handsome. Actually all my roosters are handsome but the [...]

Spartacus

| September 12, 2009

It is hard to believe that this handsome rooster was headed for the pot. After the fair I moved him into Samuel’s chicken coop until we could have ” chicken day”. Spartacus was being a real jerk and injuring the hens in my coop. He is a completely different bird in this coop. I guess [...]

Day at the Fair

| September 5, 2009

Today was the day we had all been waiting for, The Chick Show! Samuel’s chicks showed well. He got a Blue Award. A very nice couple bought his chicks at the auction for $12 each! That is a very good price considering the Grand Champion chicks sold for $15. I will put a picture in [...]
