Carving the Pumpkins

Posted By on October 30, 2009

My Mom came up for Halloween weekend. She loves to go to the pumpkin patch with the boys. We were so excited that our field trip to the Pumpkin patch was also the same weekend that she was able to get away. Unfortunately, because of all the rain we have had, the field trip was canceled. We were disappointed but we decided to take her to the farmer’s market in downtown Nashville to pick out pumpkins. We had a lot of fun and today we were able to get them carved.

The boys really had fun gutting the pumpkins this year. I think that this was the first year that Samuel was willing to stick his hands in and pull out the guts.

Samuel designed his own pumpkin and basically did all the work himself. He needed a little help with the mouth and that is when he snapped this picture. Jacob wanted to use a stencil and have Grammy carve it.

We had a really fun time carving and hanging out. We forgot to get a picture of the boys with the finished products so maybe tomorrow.

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.

Awesome job on the pumpkins! Wow, those are really big pumpkins! The pumpkins down here are somewhat small this year. Hope you guys have a great Halloween and a really fun time with your Grammy this weekend.
