Canning tomato sauce

Posted By on August 16, 2009

We had a very busy day again today. I am at the point now where I wish there were about 3 more hours in the day so I can get everything done. After church we went to a church member/friends house for a little get together. Gosh it was a ton of fun! When we got home I was able to pick all the tomatoes that needed picking. I have been storing them in the freezer until the time when I can make some sauce, or gravy if you are Italian. I am not so we call it sauce.

Well it seems that my tomato crop had done better than I thought because there was no longer any more room for my tomatoes. So….I had to make some sauce tonight.

Yumm. Spagetti anyone?

So, here I sit at a quarter to 10 with the kids tucked into bed, canning tomato sauce. When I am done I am going to bed. Tomorrow is a school day. But then every day is a school day!? Right!?

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.
