Busy Weekend

Gosh it was a busy weekend! Quinn worked a 15 hr. shift on Saturday so I was left to fend for myself with a lot on the schedule.
I was scheduled to be a vendor at Woman’s Day at my church and we had to be up and out early. Quinn also had to be out early to get to work.
Well, Saturday morning when we woke up we had no power and we were 15 mins behind. I began gearing up to take the baby chicks with me to the Women’s Day expo because I didn’t know how long they would be without heat. Quinn left before us and called us back with the news that the outage was due to a traffic accident instead of the rain (which I suspected) and that the power would be back on in a couple of hours.
I was very much relieved with this news and left the chicks at home with the faith that it would happen as predicted. After setting up my booth (forgetting to take a picture) it was smooth sailing until it was time to pack up. The boys were such a big help. It is nice to have two boys who are cute and good salesmen to boot. Samuel was off shmoozing early and even worked out an arrangement to barter my soap for my Mother’s Day present. Too cute! I have to give him credit for thinking about it ahead of time. I am not the planner in the family so that is something I struggle with. Plus it was at no cost to him (thrifty). Jacob bartered a bar of soap for another from another vendor. We can’t wait to try it.

After that was over we had to head back to the house and let all the dogs out to potty. Oh, and I completely forgot to mention that, in the commotion of the morning, we had a surprise visitor… A stray dog who just appeared. He appears to be a Husky mix who has no manners and hasn’t spent much time around people.
Then we went to visit one of our neighbors to attend a ‘function’. We had received an invitation to the Smiley Hollow Open House. It was such a fun time.

Bouncing!

Pony rides!

putt putt is the best!
The kids had snowcones, cotton candy, popcorn and hotdogs. There was a clown making balloon shapes and a DJ. After dinner there was a band. Dinner was awesome! BBQ pork and chicken, baked beans and hoe cakes. There was other stuff too I am just giving you the highlights. We didn’t stay too long because of church in the morning. Tons of fun! Quinn was very sorry he couldn’t attend with us as planned, due to his work schedule.
Now,this morning (Sunday) was a calamity of errors too. Due to the outage of power yesterday I did not set the alarm when I reset the clocks. Thank God for earlier risers. We only woke up 15 mins late and then realized the unexpected visitor was still here and was trying to get at my chickens. AHhhh!
I jumped into high gear and between Quinn and I we were able to get him into a crate to hold him until we got home from church. Tomorrow he will go to the animal shelter if our neighbor, Guy, cannot identify him. I doubt that he can, since the dog has no collar and is not neutered.
In the commotion this morning I forgot that we were supposed to take two cars to church because I had a VBS meeting after church. Oh well, now my boys will have to wait for me! When we got home Quinn put the visitor on a tie out so that he could have access to food and water but not the chickens. I also found 4 of Samuel’s peeps out of the pool today, so I had to fix the draft guard so that they would not slide on the floor when they flew up to the rim of the pool and I added a perch for entertainment.
It has been a busy couple of days. I am glad it is almost over.
Y’all come back now!
