Bullet- Head of Ranch Security

Bullet- Head of Ranch Security

I don’t know if any of you out there have ever read “Hank the Cowdog”. It is a children’s series of books and well worth the read. We love the Hank books and I would like to give Bullet the title “Head of Ranch Security”. He sure did earn his stripes today. While I was grooming, Jacob alerted me to the fact that Bullet had caught a mole.

I didn’t give it much attention until I saw him playing with it in the driveway. It looked pretty big so I wanted to make sure it was good and dead and I went out with a shovel. He was happy to show me his prize. That thing was huge! I thought it was a small rabbit at first but then I realized that it was really a mole. Good dog! We are covered with mole trenches around here.

I went back to grooming and then the boys ran in to tell me that Bullet had caught another mole! Yea! Bad news is my son chopped it in half with a hatchet. Ewwww. I am glad that it is no longer of this world and I am glad that they are not squeamish about the demise of little critters…but, Ewwww.

It was a beautiful day. Very windy and a little cool but the sun was finally out and it didn’t rain. It has been a very wet and rainy couple of days so I really enjoyed the sunshine.

Yesterday a friend of mine brought her grandson over to see the chicks. He is three years old so there is a ton of exciting things to do here on the farm. We threw rocks off the bluff, saw chicks, planted sunflowers and took a nature walk. Very fun. We also had a visitor at the hummingbird feeder! I was so excited to see a hummingbird on Sunday so I made a batch of nectar and set up the feeder. We have seen it several times a day since then. I hope you all weren’t expecting me to get a photo of that! I am not that good.

Y’all come back now!

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.
