It has been gray and cold here. The chickens found a nice perch to sit and watch the excitement. It looks like my barn is really starting to happen. I have been talking about this barn for months now to the people closest to me. Now I finally get to talk about it with y’all.

My neighbor Joe is building this barn for us. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. He staked it out two days ago and the lumber was also delivered that day for the posts. Then it rained…a lot. It has also gotten considerably colder this week.

Today he came out and started drilling holes for the posts. They didn’t think the were going to be able to concrete them today but they were going to try.

They got all the posts in holes and then made them plumb and straight.

They worked way past dark to get the center posts in concrete today. They will do the rest tomorrow. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! My chickens will have a permanent place for winter and I will be able to get goats in the spring. Lord willing.

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.
