Outing with friends

Yesterday was a busy day for my clan. Quinn had to work but I didn’t have any dogs on a Saturday for a change. One of the adult Sunday school classes has partnered with the fourth grade class this year and they had a field trip to Lynnville Tn. The Hagewood’s have a lake side cottage there in the form of a converted railroad caboose!

The boys and I loaded onto the church bus for the long drive down near Pulaski Tn.

Our first stop after the hour and a half ride was Forgie’s Fruit Farm to pick peaches!

Our next stop was the Soda Pop Junction.

We had a really good lunch of burgers and fries. The Sodapop Junction used to be the local Drug store for Lynnville. Miss Shirley, in the adult Sunday school class, used to live in Lynville and remembered it as a drugstore. They always had the soda fountain and claim the best milkshakes in Tennessee.

The children all enjoyed the Railroad Museum….well, even some of the older adults enjoyed it too. We had a lot of railroad enthusiasts in the group.

The boys had fun fishing on the lake. The girls did too but I think they liked the paddle boat more. They also had homemade ice cream! There was Vanilla with fresh peach topping and Cookies and Cream to choose from.

No one was ready to leave but with bed time approaching and an hour and a half drive ahead of us we started the trek back. Good Food, Good Fellowship, and Good Times. Goodbye Caboose…until next year!?

Y’all come back now!

About the author

I am a work at home Mom of two of the best boys ever. I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer and have been grooming out of my home for the last 12 years. We have recently moved to Greenbrier Tn on 27 acres. We are new to the "homesteading thing" but we are excited to learn. We hope to be filling our farm with many critters and a garden. We are homeschoolers so everything is a unit study to us. It has been fun to see the boys help Dad cut firewood. We will also be learning how to build a chicken coop in the near future as well. I have been making handcrafted soap lately as well and I am seeing an improvement in that business as well. It is all natural vegetable and goat milk based soaps. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone.
