Well, the snow yesterday was too dry but as it began to melt a little today we were able to make it stick better to make a snowman.
This was the boys’ first snowman and the first snowman on the farm.
You know, it is not every snowman who can pull off ears and a sombrero.
Y’all [...]

We got that winter storm that was on the news but not as bad as we could have. We got about 4″ here in Robertson County. The snow started falling around 10 am Friday morning.
The fresh fallen snow is so beautiful and peaceful. We didn’t have anything scheduled to do on [...]

I was worried that the hens were laying in the woods. Well….I was right!
Sure enough. We found an egg yesterday and today in this location. I guess a kindling pile gives you enough protection.
Y’all come back now!

I have two roosters who are soon to leave this farm. My most pretty rooster, Adonis, has turned bad. He has taken to attacking the boys and this morning he went after me. Wonder Dog Bullet stepped in and saved my life. He started going after Adonis to [...]

Joe and Mike were at the farm Saturday fixing my brooding pen. With eggs in the incubator I needed to get moving on the pen in the barn so we didn’t have them in the garage.

It was nice out on Saturday so the boys helped their dad chop wood and then they were rewarded with a BB gun shooting and education session.
They were so excited to get a chance to shoot. The gun came with some BB’s already in it and that was fortunate because we couldn’t find the [...]

The boys and I fired up the incubator yesterday. We loaded it up with 41 eggs. I have never hatched chicks before so I don’t really know what I am doing…shocking I know.
They are tucked in and will hatch in about 3 weeks barring a power outage.
Y’all come back now!

We spent some time yesterday getting an eye exam for Samuel. He has an astigmatism in his right eye. He is supposed to wear his glasses all the time. Lately he has not been wearing them consistently and I wondered if his prescription should be changed. I was correct, [...]

It is a snowy day here and while snow isn’t a rare occurrence, snow that lasts 3 days is! It started snowing around 7:30 am on Thursday. We have less than an inch on the ground but it is still snowing after three days. My dogs that were scheduled for [...]
